UK: South Devon Railway: A Brief Visit
Author: Milepost_130

Last weekend, while my wife, Maryann, was participating in a two-day cooking class at Ashburton Cookery School, I wandered off to the nearby South Devon Railway where ex-Great Western Railway 6412, 0-6-0 (Great Western Railway / Swindon Works [no builder's number] / 1934) was in steam, powering tourist trains. An image depicting this locomotive departing Buckfastleigh, Devon around noon last Saturday is attached.

Nice picture, shame the blue 37 detracts from the late 1950s character of the scene.

True enough, but your eye isn't drawn to them in the same way it is to that 1960s rail blue 37.

I know it's not the 1950s so I don't really mind the presence of 'interlopers'. The car park cars/van are what stood out to me though...there are more of them and they're in the foreground.

What a fine operation this is. Had the chance to visit with friends who work/volunteer there, last October. Extraordinarily nice folks, knowledgeable... and the size, volume, nature and quality of work coming out of the shops are something to behold.
