European Railroad Discussion > Narrow gauge Czech RepublicDate: 06/24/19 18:53 Narrow gauge Czech Republic Author: rfdatalink In May my wife and I did little tour of Europe. I've found narrow gauge railways in Europe fascinating since I was a teenager. It was cold and rainy, but I did get some some photos and rides in while we were there. The first set of photos is from the JHMD railway in the Czech Republic This 760mm gauge railway runs both north and south of their operations base in Jindrichuv Hradec. When we arrived there both the north and south trains were waiting at the narrow gauge platform
- The purple locomotive and coach are going south to Nova Bystrice. - The silver Diesel Railcar is headed north to Obratan. The round windows and LED headlights make this look like something from a Jules Vern novel to me. - The mainline train arrives with connecting passengers. They are very inexpensive, but it was a bit of challenge getting the rental logistics worked out. We drove to Nova Bystrice where we were spending the night.
- First photo is the station. - Second photo is the arrival of the southward train we saw in Jindrichuv Hradec. - Third photo running around train while track crew does some work. They were a much more attractive green or blue last time I was there.

I have to agree, that is a hideous choice for RR equipment. |
