European Railroad Discussion > Switzerland, Part 4, Rapperswil-Jona & St. GallenDate: 01/05/20 12:09 Switzerland, Part 4, Rapperswil-Jona & St. Gallen Author: thebluecomet This will be the last part in Switzerland. We were making the long drive to Munich this day and I made several stops en route.
Rapperswil-Jona is served by the SBB and the Sud-Ost-Bahn, the SouthEast Railway of Switzerland. Date: 01/05/20 12:12 Re: Switzerland, Part 4, Rapperswil-Jona & St. Gallen Author: thebluecomet The third image here is from somewhere along the road heading for St. Gallen.
All images from June 1991. Date: 01/05/20 12:17 Re: Switzerland, Part 4, Rapperswil-Jona & St. Gallen Author: thebluecomet St. Gallen was one of my favorite stops on the trip. I had read about this town in Trains Magazine. George Drury had published numerous stories of his travels throughout Europe and St. Gallen was mentioned as a great location. Very true.
Some SBB trains. The switcher/shunter in the third photo was moving around very briskly. Date: 01/05/20 12:21 Re: Switzerland, Part 4, Rapperswil-Jona & St. Gallen Author: thebluecomet There were several trains in the green BT livery there. Unfortunately I don't recall what BT stands for. I couldn't find anything online either. Does it still exist? .
The freight cars in the third photo appear to be rather old. Anyone know of their build date? Thanks. From here we passed through a corner of Austria before heading up to Munich. Thanks for sharing again!

Bodensee & Toggenburg Railway, since 2001 part of the Sudostbahn. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodensee%E2%80%93Toggenburg_railway You certainly caught Swiss Railways at a very interesting point of time as their image was changing.
