Slovakia Part 4
Author: dwatry

The 5th day of the roadtrip was focused on following the 5-foot gauge iron ore railway that extends from the giant US Steel Works just south of Kosice to the Ukraine border.  We managed to catch quite a few trains on the wide gauge line, which is operated by ZSSK, and is used mainly to bring iron ore from the former Soviet Union to the steel plant.
1)  Vario Tram on the interurban line from Kosice to the US Steel Works plant south of Kosice.
2)  Class 361 on westbound train at Nizna Mysla, crossing under the 5 foot gauge line.
3)  Class 131s meet on eastbound and westbound trains at Ruskov.

7)  Pushers on rear of westbound wide gauge train.

On Day 6, 86235 left from Kosice via train back to Vienna to catch a flight back to the UK, and I continued on to Hungary and Romania by car.  I posted shots from that part of the trip last year, but I did see a few more trains within Slovakia before crossing over into Hungary,
8)  Kosice Tatra trams at train station - 619 is a T6A5, and 523 is a KT8D5.
9)  KT8D5 at train station.
