European Railroad Discussion > Question on Ukrainian grade-crossing markings

Can someone explain the lines outside the rails and the arrows inside the rails, marked on nearly all the grade crossings along this line in Ukraine? Most are double ended. Some are single ended. A few bridges appear to have them as well. Current of traffic? Subgrade conditions? It seems they'd be most visible from above, least from the roads. Image is a screen capture from a video by UkTraine. Another line that seemed to have more traffic did not have them.
