I believe there was an article (Railroad Model Craftsman, IIRC) back in the 60s about a railway to one of these islands where the cars were powered by sails.

There are a few of these small islet operations. In the case of most of them, one must be a registered resident of the islet or an invited guest in order to receive permission to ride. There is also a small number of cottages that can be rented on the islets; those who rent them then receive permission to travel as well. I haven't done it yet, but I am very keen to do so!
