Castle Cary and 4 locomotives.
Author: Hartington

I live about 20 miles on from Westbury along the Great Western line from London to Cornwall. The geeral diet is GWR class 800 units and 165 units enlivened by the occasional Southwestern Railway 159. We get no regular freight at the moment but we do get various engineering (MOW) trains.

A group of 4 locomotives is most unusual but that's what we got on 17th April. They were on their way to Leeds but I have no idea why.

A mix 0f 59s and 66s

The 59s are going through some bogie swaps/maintenance at Leeds, 59005 is still there.

You're welcome; nice shots of an unusual move.

Almost looks like something you would see in Australia or the US.

I see a fair few Freightliner locos coming from Crewe to Leeds. I'm told it's for tyre turning on the lathe at Leeds. chris uk
