European Railroad Discussion > Double headed steam and a "whistler"Date: 06/05/21 13:31 Double headed steam and a "whistler" Author: Hartington On Thursday June 3rd there was a tour from Lancaster to Bristol. On the journey to Bristol it was double headed by Stanier 4-6-0 #45231 "Sherwood Forester" and #46100 another 4-6-0 with an "interesting" past WIKIPEDIA . On the rear was the Class 40 D213 built by English Electric and commonly known as a "whistler" because of the sound of its' turbo. D213 took the train back to Lancaster leaving the two steam locos in Bristol to handle a series of summer tours. The pictures were taken at Filton Abbey Wood station on the outskirst of Bristol on the leg to Bristol.
