Tram riding in Brno
Author: 86235

Today Duncan and I spent almost the whole day riding around Brno on the tram system and their impressive fleet of Tatra trams of varying types - T3, KT8D5 and T6A5, the latter running as a train of three on route 1.

A KT8D5 on route 8 about to enter the private RoW for the rest of the route to Líšeň Mifkova

A T6A5 trio in the turning circle at Reckovice.

Another T6A5 trio heading downhill towards the City Centre

A pair of KT8D5 pass each other on the four tracks section south of Central Station.

Abergavenny . . . Newport Station???  I'm a little confused 🤪.  Maybe you guys ought to stay off the local brew!  By the way, those T-3's look to be in better condition than most of the T-3's I've seen recently in other cities.

I just assumed it was a test, to see if anybody read the captions vs just looking at the photos.  Then I realized:  He [ ahem ] didn't use Spell-Czech.

Continuing on the spelling riff, we could note that much of the famous scientist/monk Gregor Mendel's pioneering work on plant genetics took place at his monastery in Brno.

So it is clear that this is a good place to take a pea.

I visited Prague in 1964 when I was a young teenager. At that time the vast majority of the trams there were 4 wheelers operated in strings of three (power +2 trailers). There were just a few T3s around. Given that they used (I believe) PCC technology that's an impressive life span.
