Mr Putin demands total loyalty. His decades of KGB service have trained him to eliminate those who oppose him.

It is approaching two dozen just since February of this year. This guy must have had a good grip on the balcony railing, so that they had to shoot him.

Putin obviously follows Stalin's playbook.

The Russian railways may be following a version of PSR. Not good for getting vital supplies like food, fuel, ammo to the front lines.

Ukrainian forces took another rail hub from Russian control overnight, cutting off support to Russian military operations.

Well that's actually good news...anecdotal to the whole mess...but if we line up thousands of positive anecdotes then SLAVA UKRAINI!

I daresay quite a few Russians are vexed and saddened about this whole mess...they just can't ever say so....I think they are a little more independend minded in Siberia too, being so far from the Kremlin...

Someone of German background was offended by my use of "Putz" for Putin, which means clean in German, for example, Putzfrau. (cleaning woman). My mother came from "Deutschland", and I recall a family joke was to call someone a putzfrau (male or female) when cleaning.

My use of the word was  more Yiddish and that meaning can refer to a particular male organ in a vulgar way or someone who can be a real jerk. Putin, if the shoe fits, wear it.

I believe the Russian use of the term "putz"  means fool or village idiot.

The capture of the rail hub at Lyman also yielded many boxcars of weapons and ammo. The Russians, in their haste to leave, abandoned tanks, fuel etc. Didn't even take the time to destroy them

Russians troops usually booby-trap when they leave an area (if they have time). Historically, according to my military dad, this goes way back, including the looting. Dad says poor logistics is another one of their traits.

Just like Biden did with his disastrous US withdrawal from Afghanistan.  

That is not true.. You need to do your research and not believe everything you hear or read. Much equipment was destroyed, particularly the aircraft and other high tech items, which frustrated the Taliban. Yes, there was some functional equipment left for the Afghanies, but they turned tail and left it. We didn't.

There are a lot of folks who make a good living (?) As aircraft repair teams, military artillery services, etc. Many mercenary groups like the Wagner folks have entire units of skilled repair crafts.

Spare parts can be tough to get with sanctions in place.

But much of that equipment was purposefully damaged beyond repair on site. That's what I meant by the Taliban being frustrated....
