Hungary Part 6 — murals at Nyiregyhaza station
Author: gobbl3gook

I spent the night in Nyiregyhaza, about 100 km shy of the Ukrainian border.

In the morning I was impressed with the murals in the tunnel that accessed the different platforms.

cute, pretty, attractive, a little whimsical.  They soften the otherwise hard, stark feeling of being in a station tunnel.

Public art can be low key and low budget, and really liven up public spaces.

Some murals were trains.  Some were streetscape with elephants and giraffes.  Nice pairings, I thought...

Observations, Questions?

I wonder who painted them.  Was thinking maybe they asked for volunteers, or maybe a school?   There is a consistency in the colors and of course the style, so who knows?
Thanks for posting!

The murals look like a whimsical way to brighten up what would otherwise be a stark tunnel

A nice touch and very entertaining.   I like number two, it looks like the locomotive has a buffer near the top of the cab.
