It was -5C and misty up at Cwmbargoed yesterday where 6C83 was loading coal for Port Talbot steelworks. I parked up at 10:55 just as the loaded train left the loading pad and crept down to the exchange sidings. 66079 James Nightall GC ran round and by 11:15 6C83 was ready to leave. In the event it left at about 11:45, about an hour ahead of schedule, passing Bedlinog at mid day. I didn't bother to chase as the freezing fog was thicker further down the valley.

I think this Minx (Class 66) is the second diesel to carry a James Nightall
nameplate after Duff (Class 47, 47579).

What an absolute hero that railwayman was.
