Railroads & Nature in the Netherlands: Part II

Back in March I posted a link to an article about how badgers (a beloved protected species there) were burrowing into railroad subgrades and causing service interruptions:

Today, while watching a Cabview Holland video of the line from Groningen to Amersfoort, I saw there was a section just east of Meppel with a lot of stork nests on the catenary poles - the screenshot shows 6 of them (the train is heading directly into the evening sun, so the quality is not good).

A common joke with my German relatives was that if a kid asked where he came from, they would say a stork brought them in a basket and set the basket on the doorstep...
