On This Day One Year Ago: Newcastle, Eng. to Edinburgh, Scotland
Author: NMlurker

The weather was pretty abysmal the entire time I was in Newcastle and there is not nearly as much train traffic (particularly freight) on the East Coast Main Line. Sept. 8th was spent doing touristy things (may the Queen rest in peace). On September 9th, 2022, I traveled back north to Edinburgh on a London North Eastern Railway Azuma service. I snapped a couple of shots at the Newcastle station prior to departure and one shot in the evening at Edinburgh Waverley station.

1. This was my first opportunity to photograph passenger operator Cross Country. This is a Belgian-built Bombardier Class 221 Super Voyager tilt train.

2. Another view of the Cross Country Class 221.

3. This was not the train that I rode, but the same type, seen at Edinburgh Waverley. This is a British-built Hitachi Class 801 Azuma. Again, very nice in all respects. At the end of my visit to Scotland I would spend one night at the Jurys Inn in the background with a nice view of the east throat of the station.

Wonderful to sit on my duff and take a World tour of places I can only dream about.  Nice photos and videos today.  Thanks to all travelers.

Believe me looking at a class 800 Azuma is preferable to riding in it. Awful units.
