European Railroad Discussion > More Zittau - 30 Years AgoDate: 10/07/23 17:36 More Zittau - 30 Years Ago Author: gbmott Thanks, Jim, for the update from Zittau, it's good to see the railway in good condition and 99-731 still in steam (if it is actually the same loco in both photos as the appearance has changed). When I was there 30 years ago the railway was still operated by DB. The economy in the former East Germany was in a shambles and you could still see several closed industries along the line that had provided the freight traffic that had kept the line alive. Following are a few photos from my one visit. I'd like to get back!
All photos 8-28-93 and these at Zittau except 99-724 is at Zittau Sud. Gordon Edited 2 time(s). Most of the Narrow gauge iin europe is between 900mm and one meter. Date: 10/07/23 21:43 Re: More Zittau - 30 Years Ago Author: RailRyder Wow, great pictures! I am sure those were very different times! Thanks for sharing!
