European Railroad Discussion > That's a wrap! On the JungfraubahnenDate: 12/12/23 00:23 That's a wrap! On the Jungfraubahnen Author: railsmith Narrow-gauge railways of Switzerland’s Jungfraubahnen Group use full vinyl graphic wraps for both self-promotion and to carry the messages of commercial advertisers.
Here are some examples I saw during a visit on September 24, 2019. The first three are all at Grindelwald, the eastern terminus of the 800-mm Wengernalpbahn (WAB). All the trains seen here are formed with Class BDhe 4/8 articulated sets with a panoramic centre car. (1) Set 143 is wrapped with graphics that mark the railway’s 125th anniversary. (2) Trailing in the same train, set 141 of the same class promotes the Co-op chain of retail grocery shops. (3) Set 142 advertises a railway-branded watch by Tissot, and proclaims this to be the "Official Watch of Jungfrau Railways”. Date: 12/12/23 00:23 Re: That's a wrap! On the Jungfraubahnen Author: railsmith (4) Here’s set 142 again, with the North Face of the Eiger looming above.
(5) On the metre-gauge Jungfraubahn (JB), BDhe 4/8 set 212 built in 1992 wears a wrap promoting its manufacturer ABB (ASEA Brown Boveri, which was later absorbed into Bombardier). The train is approaching Kleine Scheidegg after descending from the Jungfraujoch at the “Top of Europe”. |
