That’s a wrap! On the Rhӓtische Bahn
Author: railsmith

On a visit to Switzerland’s metre-gauge Rhӓtische Bahn in 2018, I came across various examples of locomotives and rolling stock wrapped in vinyl graphics.

The first three shots were taken at Landquart on September 11.

(1)  Ge 4/4 ll 617 wears an ad by LGB, the maker of G-gauge model railway equipment, then celebrating its 50th anniversary.
(2)  The design features four of 617’s sisters, each with a different wrap of its own.
(3)  Ge 4/4 ll 624’s decorations recognize the railway’s 50,000 fans on social media.

A few others from the same trip, these three seen at Klosters Platz on September 14, 2018.

(4 and 5)  A former driving trailer car has been converted into a mobile display car used to give schoolchildren lessons about beekeeping and making honey.
(6)  Ge 4/4 lll 649 wears a design featuring the second railway bridge over the Hinterrhein River at Reichenau, then under construction. Just north of the bridge, this tributary joins with the Vorderrhein to form the main course of the Rhein (Rhine), which eventually flows into the North Sea. The bridge is used by various RhB trains, including the Glacier Express and Bernina Express.
