Grab Shots from May 1987
Author: gbmott

I was looking at some old slides that I had scanned that date from mid-May 1987.  I have no idea where these photos were taken, but I'll bet one of you could help.  I know that I had been in Derby visiting Mike Birkin and learning about the new Radio Token Block system installed on the West Highland Line and then was in York being shown the very-high speed turnouts at Westbury.  It could also be Crewe and even Lincoln.  Anyway, I gather that quite by accident I bagged a worthwhile locomotive.

Happy Holidays,
Gordon

That is the one and only member of Class 89, No. 89001, at Crewe.  https://www.aclocogroup.co.uk/index.php/the-locomotives-summary/89001

Great set of pictures. The passenger cars in the third shot look like the International trainset built by BRE (British Rail Engineering) on spec. It was sold to Iarnrod Eireann IIRC.
