European Railroad Discussion > Merry Christmas from Nice, Cote d'AzurDate: 12/26/23 14:35 Merry Christmas from Nice, Cote d'Azur Author: 86235 Spending the holiday in more forgiving climes. Been travelling around by train, to Monte Carlo & Menton on Christmas Day and Antibes today.
1: Some SNCF TER Marseilles to Nice services are still in the hands of BB22000 dual voltage 'nez cassé' class electric locos. This one was in the carriage sidings adjacent to Nice Ville station. 2: Our service back from Menton on Christmas Day was one of these Bombardier double deck EMUs 3: Nice has a three line tram system, much of which is wireless, trams running on batteries, recharged by contact straps at stops or by the 750 DC catenary (where provided). Line 2 connects the airport with the city centre. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 12/26/23 16:57 Re: Merry Christmas from Nice, Cote d'Azur Author: Lackawanna484 Nice!

Thanks Duncan that's exactly what's been done. The railway runs down the median strip out of town to the west. "PLM" is for Paris Lyon Méditerraneé I love this photo that spans the decades. Edited, corrected PLM per post below, thanks. Edited 1 time(s). This is the main station building. PLM stands for Paris Lyon Méditerraneé - one of France's pre-1938 railway companies. Edited 2 time(s). Glad to see that the BB22000's are still holding down that service - favorites of mine. I particularly enjoyed the additional images of the Nice station and trainshed - lovely.
