Steam Gala on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway
Author: RailRyder

We finally got some sun today, but cold temperatures after yesterday's dreary cold and rain. The Railway put on a great show with 9 different steam locomotives scheduled to run over the four day Steam Gala this weekend. Here are a couple of videos I was able to take today. Both are southbound trains leaving Haworth. The first clip is the Pendennis Castle double heading with the Witherslack Hall and the second is the Witherslack Hall handling the train on her own. Beautiful sight!

The Pendennis Castle is visiting for the weekend and is a fine example of the Castle Class 4-6-0 of the Great Western Railway, built in Swindon in 1924. She was once billed as the most powerful passenger express locomotive in Britain.

The Witherslack Hall is also visiting for the weekend and also built for the Great Western Railway.

Here are two more video clips from today, first with the fine Witherslack Hall, and the second with 1054 and 41241 leaving Haworth.

The UK has certainly done a fine job on preserving their steam heritage.

Wow!! I have to make it across the pond to see this someday! Love the old movie “the Railway Children” that was filmed here many years ago. Thank you so much for sharing!
