German Seat Reservations

Is there a preferred site for booking tickets in Germany and Austria in which you can purchase the ticket for the journey and the seat reservation at the same time? From what I have found it looks like you buy your ticket first then go the DB site to do a seat reservation. I may just being doing it incorrect.

I think booking directly through the DB website will allow you to do so. 

I haven't done it with DB trains but I was able to book seat reservations on FS and SNCF trains directly through Trainline. They might let you do DB too.

If I were you, I would do the whole reservation process thru the DB website. That way your seat info will be with your ticket. Don't remember ever having an issue doing it this way in some 20 years of riding in Germany
