European Railroad Discussion > London to Bourg-Saint-MauriceDate: 08/20/24 20:23 London to Bourg-Saint-Maurice Author: symph1 I need to make that trip January 7. Searching on line, nothing's coming up. I assume it's just too far in the future.
Looking at earlier dates to see what's there, I'd have to change stations in Paris, Nord to Lyon. How much time should I allow, assuming I take a taxi? One connection is 1 hr. 28 min. Others are 2 hours. I don't speak French, and I'll be schlepping 2 suitcases. Another option is to change in Lille, not Paris. No station change there. Great. But that involves three changes, not two. I'll always have switch to a local train in Chambéry - Challes-les-Eaux. Connections range from 11 minutes (yikes) to 37. What's the least that's safe? I'm confident on foreign trains, having ridden all over Japan and China. But I know my limits, too. Running up stairs ain't gonna happen. TIA to all you Europe experts. More info from the great Man in Seat 61: https://www.seat61.com/changing-stations-in-paris.htm. He recommends at least 60 minutes

I have not traveled through Lille, but have done the oposite transfer from Gare Lyon to Gare Nord. I had a backpack and took the metro but there is still substantial walking to do. I don't envy you with two suitcases. They also have Uber in Paris.
