European Railroad Discussion > Zurich TrainboardDate: 09/13/24 12:18 Zurich Trainboard Author: dwatry I meant to include in my post yesterday this shot of the Zurich trainboard showing 35 minutes' worth of trains through Zurich Hauptbahnhof during the afternoon peak. There are 59 trains listed as scheduled to depart between 1614 and 1649, on both levels. This is in a city with a population of about 445,000 in the city itself and 1.8 million in the region. For comparison for those of us in the US, the Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News SMSA in Virginia has about the same regional population (and nowehere near this many trains!).

Six hours time difference to our Eastern zone but the rail traffic is unbelievable. I have seen five and six trains moving simultaneously on occasion. Activity at 0300 is understandably quiet. Camera is situated so one can see the two entry/exit ways to the lower level plus all the tracks into the stub end terminal.
