A beautiful image of very interesting and historic equipment image in the great setting of the Zurich station trackage - thank you.

This is the RAe 4/8 double-ended Red Arrow (Roter Pfeil) electric railcar 301 (later 1021) formerly of Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS). Today owned and operated by SBB Historic, the historical foundation of SBB. As this set once carried  Winston Churchill during a visit to Switzerland in 1946, it is known as the Churchill Arrow (Churchill Pfeil) railcar.

SBB Historic has been operating this set regularly through the past summer in regular occasional lunch and dinner train service, open to the public, with tickets easily purchased from the SBB Historic website. This is probably one of those trips, although it may also have been a charter, service for which this trainset is also used by SBB Historic.

Upcoming in October and November is a new series of two trips for autumn of dinner or lunchtime trips from Zurich southward down the beautiful shores of Lake Zurich. A lovely way to take a very scenic trip on impeccably restored historic equipment, along with a delicious meal. While not inexpensive, the price (120 Swiss Francs, or $141 USD) is not unreasonable at all as compared to US excursion trips. A marvelous opportunity if you are traveling there at that time, or are one of our Trainorders European members.

Very nice. About 3 weeks back I could swear a steam locomotive went back and forth through the interlocking on the far side but couldn't detect any steam so I'm not too sure what I saw.
