BR class 9F freight loco
Author: RNinRVR

Was just watching a YouTube video from the East Lancs railway and one of the locos running was the 9F 38134. Are these 2-10-0's the largest steam 🚂 built in GB?

I think that's the case... depends a bit on how you define biggest.

92134. The 251 Standard 9Fs were numbered 92000 to 92250.

As for the largest, the LMS Beyer-Garratts had more driving wheels (2-6-0+0-6-2), were heavier than the Standard 9Fs, at 170.8 short tons versus 155.9 short tons, and much longer too, at 87 ft, 10.5 in. versus 66 ft, 2 in.

Built in GB? No, Beyer-Peacock built bigger, much bigger Beyer-Garratts for East Africa (metre gauge) and Australia (standard gauge). The biggest non-articulated locomotive built here was a class of Northerns for a railway in China, one of which is in the NRM at York.
