European cousins
Author: DavidP

Pendolino family tilting trains are operated by railroads in a dozen European countries, as well as China.  They're currently built by Alstom, which acquired designer Fiat Ferroviaria in 2001.  Here are three European examples -

1) CP - Portugal's national operator - runs Alfa Pendular trains on several main routes.  Here's one in Faro on July 27, 2024.

2) Polish operator PKP Intercity's version is the ED250.  This one is at Gdańsk on February 22, 2018.

3) UK franchise Operator Virgin West Coast made class 360 Pendolinos the standard equipment on the London Euston - Glasgow main and it's branches.  They're now operated by Avanti West Coast.  One glides into Carlisle station on August 11, 2012.

Thanks for the great pictures and information.  VR train #S129 of Sm3 Pendolino to Turku arrived on Track #3, Karjaa, Finland, 01.05.2004.  And thanks for the picture from Gdansk, my grandfather's home town when it was Danzig, Germany.  Gerry

České Dráhy (CD) also operates Pendolinos on services in the Czech Republic and Slovakia as Class 680.  Here's a CD set in Poprad-Tatry, Slovakia in 2019.
