European Railroad Discussion > Off to PlovdivDate: 12/12/24 00:46 Off to Plovdiv Author: 86235 Train travel in Bulgaria is ridiculously cheap, a single from Sofia to Plovdiv is 12Lv ($7) for about 90 miles. Sofia Central station is a well maintained modern facility, very obviously from the pre-1989 Communist era. Many passenger cars and MUs are covered in graffiti, it's really bad.
Our train, 10:00 to Varna left about 37 minutes late. Lots of slow running through extensive rebuilding work and line relocations. The 10:00 consisted of comfortable ex-DB intercity cars with a BDZ Skoda built class 44. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/12/24 00:48 by 86235.
