European Railroad Discussion > Trams of SofiaDate: 12/16/24 04:26 Trams of Sofia Author: 86235 Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, has a very large tram system, some 308 kms of track, 268 kms metre gauge (actually 1.009m) and 40 kms standard gauge, including a section of mixed gauge. A nice variety of rolling stock, domestically produced Tramkar models, three types of CKD built Tatras, ex-Basel Be 4/8s and the modern Swing model from Pesa (Poland). Here's a selection
1: Two Tatra T6A2s at the bul. Vitosha stop in central Sofia 2: A Pesa Swing and an Inekon rebuild of a Tramkar T8M 700IT outside the Ministry of Justice 3: A pair of ex-Prague T6A5s just about to miss a Renault. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/17/24 00:47 by 86235. Date: 12/16/24 04:37 Re: Trams of Sofia Author: 86235 4: These T6B5s are the other standard gauge models in service, here passing the Central Synagogue
5: On the mixed gauge section a pair of T6A2s on a no.11 at bu. Velichkov. The only time I saw T6A2s in multiple. 6: T6A2s passing each other, note the post box by the front door. You can post a letter and it'll be picked up at a number of locations around the city and delivered to the central post office. Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 12/19/24 00:43 by 86235. 8: Another T6A2 in front of St Nedelya's cathedral 9: And finally a Pesa Swing passing the City's central mosque. Date: 12/16/24 05:08 Re: Trams of Sofia Author: GPutz Thanks, Nick. Gerry
