European Railroad Discussion > 45 minutes at Bischofshofen, AustriaDate: 02/06/25 08:10 45 minutes at Bischofshofen, Austria Author: NMlurker Had I known how scenic the views are in Bischofshofen, Austria, I would have tried to work in more time there instead of just using it as a base to travel the Tauern Tunnel line and to get to Zell am See to ride the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn steam train. But I did have 45 minutes of sunlight (although shadowed in the deep valley) after arriving back from Mallnitz-Obervellach and captured a variety of action.
1. As I have said before, a few locomotive models may dominate the European rail scene but there is no shortage of variety in paint schemes. Here is an ÖBB 1116-class Taurus in push-mode on a northbound railjet 'celebrating' greentec steel. They appear to have stolen Amtrak's "whale" scheme used on the P42DC and P40DC models. The German says "while you get in, we'll get out" which makes no sense to me. 2. A southbound Bombardier-built 4023-class Talent EMU bound for Schwarzach-St. Veit rolls into the station. 3. A southbound unit tank car train behind an ÖBB 1293-class Vectron. I like the 'large print' ÖBB paint scheme. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 02/06/25 08:17 Re: 45 minutes at Bischofshofen, Austria Author: NMlurker 4. A southbound passenger with an unusual combination of an older locomotive and newer (or refurbished?) City Shuttle coaches.
5. Another southbound passenger with a City Shuttle cab control car, two 'standard' coaches, and an ÖBB 1116-class Taurus pushing. 6. And finally, a southbound railjet in push-mode with a matching 1116-class Taurus at the rear. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 02/06/25 09:43 Re: 45 minutes at Bischofshofen, Austria Author: SOO6617 NMlurker Wrote:

Its only a little bit clearer if you translate the second part this way "We are already getting out". Even then it doesn't translate well into English.
