This was a short, but somewhat complicated move, and it divides into 3 portions: pulled by steam, electric, and then diesel power.
We stared out behind the T-1 on Conrail (Lackawaana) for about 22 miles to Newark. At Newark a pair of GG-1's (4883 & 4879) took over to get us through Penn Station and deliver us to the LIRR, a little over 10 miles. And finally LIRR diesels (252 & 223) delivered us out to Belmont Park – maybe another 20 miles. So apx 52 miles in all, give or take 5 miles. This site is pretty much unchanged.
