Railroaders' Nostalgia > 3rd Trick Blues, part threeDate: 05/25/15 15:24 3rd Trick Blues, part three Author: retcsxcfm By the time of my work at Tampa Yard the SAL passenger trains were on the decline.
The local that made an early morning affival (about 3 or 4AM) was down to one or two cars and one locomotive.Since it was just a connection from Wildwood, whatever power around was used. One night I saw it with a C420. One of my jobs was to go over to the station and cut the steam, air and signal lines between the cars and the locomotive.Actually, after that my job was finished and I could go home but most of the time I did not. On one particular night for some reason there was an old heavyweight Pullman setting on a track next to the arriving train.Sooo, why should I go home? I'll get on the car and go to sleep. Well,I did until the first trick carman came and woke me.By that time it was after 8AM! I should have been gone hours ago.I was a little red faced but no one else said a word.
