Remember when?
Author: retcsxcfm

Years ago when the male dancers could be hired to
perform for mostly women. And maybe others?

The posts below about demerits and investigations
reminded me of an unforgettable performance by some
of those guys.

At the time, the local Carmen were not getting along
with the company.Lots of jokes and hankey-pankey
going on.
I had to sit in on an investigation that one of them
was subject to.Well, right in the middle of the trial
the door burst open and here come several scantly clad
gents with a boom box.Of course, the GM was not amused
while it was all I could do trying not to laugh.I covered
my mouth and looked away.It was hilarious to say the least!
Another "true" railroad story that I will not forget.

Late one morning when I was at SP’s Bayshore Yard office, a mostly open and large area area filled with desks occcupied by clerks, things were quiet with the usual buzz of everyone busy working. Suddenly a guy walked in, laid down a boom box with loud music and proceeded to deliver a loud singing telegram to one of the clerks who was having a birthday. Supt Bays stepped out of his office and never smiled, just rolled his eyes a little. Everything was back to normal in a few minutes. My first and only such experience.

For several years I had a guy working near my office who was extremely capable and efficient but he could not keep quiet. Off and on daily he would sing the Rice Krispies commercial song that I have not heard since I retired - and I don’t miss it.
