The Lady who helped run the Ansco Ski Train… Kimberly Filip was operations manager of the Rio Grande Ski Train, which was owned and operated by the Ansco Corporation.  She had a job most railfan’s can only dream about.

Her duties included everything from ticket selling to lost-and-found.  She lined up Ski Train onboard crews, oversaw caterers, fielded passenger complaints, coordinated group reservations, checked on repairs, and acted as liaison between Ansco and the Denver & Rio Grande Western (D&RGW). Kimberly started with the Private Cars in late 1985 and was promoted to Operations Manager in 1988.  She left the job for other opportunities in early 1990.

“Kimberly is an unusual person”, said Craig P. Meis, vice president and general manager of Ansco, and Filip’s boss.  “She has a unique combination of skill, talent and attitude.  She knows the work and will do whatever it takes to get the job done.”

Saluting a fine lady this International Women's Day.  International Women's Day was March 8, 2022 - a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

Kim is a great lady.  We were good friends.  She married a guy who was a Road Foreman in Minturn who quite the RR abut the time of the UP merger.  At that point she dropped ut of sight.  the last time I saw her was in Alamosa in 2006 or so.  I hope she is doing well.

Nice story, thanks so much for sharing this. It's great to remember the individuals behind the hardware!
