Date: 01/28/23 07:28 Re: Measurement Unit Author: KskidinTx It looks real similar to the wheel measurement gauge we used to use. The "L" shaped end would rest on the tread of the wheel and you would measure down to the "witness" grove to determine the diameter of the wheel.
All locomotive wheels have the grove 'turned" into the side of the flange area. The "L" shaped end shown appears to be somewhat longer than the ones we had so it could have another purpose.
