Eastern Railroad Discussion > New Florida East Coast paint scheme has emerged!Date: 11/09/11 12:26 New Florida East Coast paint scheme has emerged! Author: FEC2000 FEC management has released rebuilt FEC SD40-2 714 in the old original E-unit Champion paint scheme with FLORIDA EAST COAST on the sides and the Flagler System emblem painted in front of the name on the sides. Hopefully someone will post some pictures later today, it was running on the FEC 910 local out of New Smyrna Beach, Florida today! I saw pictures today, it looks fantastic, better than the FEC 2000 looks! It will be used on the up coming FEC Santa train!
Here is a picture taken today by friend Bob Pickerington on local 910 near NSB. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/09/11 18:39 by FEC2000. ![]() Date: 11/09/11 12:55 Re: New Florida East Coast paint scheme has emerged! Author: MDH FEC2000 Wrote:

Bill Miller Galt, ON Date: 11/09/11 19:01 Re: New Florida East Coast paint scheme has emerged! Author: Lackawanna484 That's a really nice paint job. It evokes palm trees, gentle surf, drinks by the sandy beach, etc.
Nice going, FEC Date: 11/09/11 19:15 Re: New Florida East Coast paint scheme has emerged! Author: tomstp I would be very nice to see that on all units but knowing who owns them, I doubt it will happen.

I suspect he's alluding to RailAmerica, when in fact both RailAmerica and FEC are owned by Fortress Group, and some degree of separation has been established over the past two years or so between those two operations. I highly doubt any of the SD70s will be repainted any time soon, but I surely wouldn't mind if some more SD40-2s got this treatment. Date: 11/10/11 10:52 Re: New Florida East Coast paint scheme has emerged! Author: florida581 I really like this paint scheme. Very nostalgic. FEC has sort of an identity crisis with their locomotive fleet. Pretty much every model they have, has a different scheme. I do like the SD70M-2's blue and yellow, but Alaska RR had it first. The other 70's have Rail America's red, white, and blue. It's patriotic, but they're not even part of Rail America. The SD40-2's are still UP's armour yellow, since that's who FEC bought them from. And the GP40's are the blue and white scheme...an original for the FEC, but not as good as the red and yellow. I know it's a matter of money and pulling locomotives off of revenue service for new paint jobs, but I think FEC needs to make their fleet more uniform. If they do find the time and resources to do that, I vote the "Champion" red and yellow.
