The former Pufferbelly (later the Station) in Berea OH

Some good news for so many that watch CSX and NS mainline action in and around Berea. The historic former Berea Union depot is finally going to re-open after being closed for 4 years. For those interested in the article and a nice photo shot of it:

I've enjoyed many meals at that restaurant....under several names. Howevber, I was always a bit nervous when CSX passed by as a derailment could easily end the life of the restaurant and the lives of all those unfortunate souls dining away. A flat wheel on a passing freight car created surfable waves in my soup and added foam to my beer.

But no, contrary to the predicted reporting, the trains don't "chug past".CSX has improved its track and increased train speeds so the perceived danger may be less....and the "rush" is greater. All that said......I'll be back!

Is the Pufferbelly in the station in Kent still in business? Trains on the former Erie are rare there and the B&O is well below station level so you mostly heard trains there!

This is great news! According to the article:

"Expect a beer selection including 14 brews on tap, 23 craft brews, plus a wine list with more than 50 labels."

My kind of place.

The Cleveland RTA even provides transit service to the Depot! Awesome!

I beg to differ. Ever listen to a GE locomotive when it's working hard? Chugga, chugga, chugga!!!
