YN2 is a moniker that the guy who publishes The Bull Sheet came up with (or at least published, maybe one of the contributers came up with it). He published a paint scheme roster of all CSX engines every 6 months, and YN2 was the "bright future" scheme. YN1 was the original blue and gray scheme with a yellow nose/rear and frame stripe added. Now that they came up with the new solid blue with gold nose/rear/frame stripe, he dubbed it YN3. Date: 03/16/02 14:09 RE: CSX paint schemes Author: TrailVan YN(Yellow Nose)
Date: 03/16/02 14:13 RE: CSX paint schemes Author: anvilhead A mystery quickly solved.
Thank you for the help. Date: 03/17/02 06:56 RE: CSX paint schemes Author: mingobob The site "CSX Photo Archives" goes into pretty good detail about these terms, with photos. I'd post the link but I'm not sure if that would be proper web etiqute without asking them. A search engine will probably get you there.
mbob Date: 03/17/02 10:29 links Author: pafan I think the new scheme should be called GN1: for Gold nose.
That's my two cents. Here is the link to the CSX Photo archives: http://www.trainweb.org/csxphotos/ Brent Shortlines of Southern Indiana http://www.trainweb.org/indianashortlines/ |
