Switcher Saturday: DTE Belle River Plant
Author: SD80MACfan

With the recent news that Detroit Thomas Edison will shut down its Belle River power plant in Marine City, MI, I decided to go back through my photos and find a rather rare shot, or two. DTE does have a few switchers that it used to shove cars through the rotary dumpers at the plants. They are usually tucked away in the complex somewhere, but on this particular day, I happened to find two of them out alongside the road. With only my cell plone on hand, I quickly snapped two pictures and took off. There are rumors that you could get arrested for stopping and taking pictures of their locomotives, but I took the risk. And with the news that the plants are being shut down and their fate now in limbo, I'm glad I did. They're not the best but it's still something. And that's better than nothing.

If you are on public property you cannot be arrested for taking train photos.
