Empty Hopper train E750-21 departs Keyser, WV as B772-23 ( the boxcar) arrives in town with the cars from Grafton. The empty hopper train had just reduced tonnage at Keyser by 2 locomotives and a 100 cars earlier.

Great image and title!

I love the amount of "noise" the photo contains because (to me, at least) it makes the image appear almost as if it was created using pastels, especially in the background [the mountain]. In fact, I had to really observe it before I knew it was really a photograph!

Thank You.... I would like to think it was the effect I was shooting for but it was more like "Blind Pig finds an acorn"......

West Keyser is a Challenge to shoot at. In the late afternoon the the area is in a shadow with well illuminated spots to the west and east of the plant.... sitting at the base of a mountain does that for you.... so it's dial up the ISO and work with it.

Interestingly, I think the coal cars in the mid-ground look more stylized in your version then they do in this one. I suspect that the diesel fumes really help capture the component of the image.
