Norfolk Southern opened its new headquarters in Midtown Atlanta on Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Class 1 railroad is housed in a 750,000-foot building in Tech Square that sits on 3.4 acres. The complex features two steel and glass towers equipped with touchless technology, open work spaces, street-level plazas and roof-type terraces. There is a food hall, coffee shop, 24-hour fitness center, and on-site daycare. NS had been based in Norfolk, Virginia, since 1982 when it was created by the merger of Norfolk & Western and the Southern Railway. I wonder why it needed an "artist in residence studio" ? I guess that I just don't get it. Date: 11/12/21 13:18 Re: NS Opens Atlanta Headquarters Author: ns1000 Hey, don't knock the "glass house". After all, at least they have their priorities straight (eyeroll)....?!?!

Date: 11/12/21 15:23 Re: NS Opens Atlanta Headquarters Author: holiwood I don't think this is an improvement of good use of stockholder money
Date: 11/12/21 16:29 Re: NS Opens Atlanta Headquarters Author: RMD23 I am all for progress and change...but how many crew starts per year would this project have funded if invested well ???? NS recently blocked multiple crossings near me for 6 days but they can proudly proclaim an artist-in-residence space - to quote Jeff Foxwothy "there's your sign".

What would Hunter do?!?! Don’t these infidels realize that to practice pure PSR you are supposed to put doors in Conex containers and call it good enough. I mean it’s good enough for train crews when they decide they don’t want to fix up the old depot’s and yard office’s. Line up about 30 Port-a-Johns and call it good. can see and meet customers, employees, local leaders and understand conditions would be a better use of money than building a Taj Mahal to hide from your railroad inside of Date: 11/12/21 19:04 Re: NS Opens Atlanta Headquarters Author: Lackawanna484 Didn't the Georgia taxpayers foot the bill for much of this project?
Georgia and Virginia were both throwing money at NS to locate their HQ. Wouldn't it be nice if they spent this money helping kids to read and write? Posted from Android Date: 11/12/21 22:03 Re: NS Opens Atlanta Headquarters Author: Drknow I’m sorry but screw the special paint on locomotives so Foamers can take pictures and save the free turkey hot dogs (1 per employee! True story) for another day. Treat you employees with better regard than dog turds and give a damn about your customers, that’s where I wanna see the effort go.

When a customer files a complaint, the artist quickly draws up heart felt apology card and sends it to said customer. ----------------------------------------- - to quote Jeff Foxwothy > "there's your sign". Actually, that was Bill Engvall, but, point well taken. NS continues to stall trains climbing the mountain between Altoona & Johnstown in what is becoming a daily occurrence, not to mention, as noted yesterday, 12G dropping a few cars on the ground in Cresson. Is this fancy building going to somehow fix that? Doubt it. Posted from iPhone Date: 11/13/21 13:28 Re: NS Opens Atlanta Headquarters Author: ts1457 Off-pending Wrote:

Just think if the Carriers could get all the customers to go away. How low the operating ratio could go if ALL Jobs could be annulled and nothing operated! They’ll be rich I tells ya!! The Atlanta Journal Constitution noted the discussions began under Governor Deal, and continued under Governor Kemp. The state will pay incentives for new to Georgia jobs. Mr Kemp and then Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms were on the platform with CEO Squires. https://www.ajc.com/news/local-govt--politics/norfolk-southern-breaks-ground-shifts-workers-atlanta/Za3kZ0vxxzE6udMrFchSMJ/ Date: 11/14/21 11:59 Re: NS Opens Atlanta Headquarters Author: justalurker66 NKPSOUTHERN Wrote:

While the granting of tax breaks reduces the income due the city one has to consider the alternative. If the company locates somewhere else the city gets $0. The only drawback is that the city is providing tax supported services during the abatement period. |
