Morristown & Erie
Author: Lackawanna484

Stopped by the M&E in Morristown NJ today. Lots going on.

Amtrak F40 265 was idling outside the engine house, with C424s 4228 and 4223 nearby. RS 11 7215 was fresh out of the paint shop, in a sharp black job with a crimson red band across the long hood. Not yet lettered, but the 7215 was in the number boards by the light. Impressive looker, and the mechanic blew some Alco smoke and he moved it around.

It looked like one other 72xx unit might have been in the tent-shed, but I couldn't be sure.

repainted FL 9 units 488/489 were at Jefferson Road, along with an ex-Southern fluted side coach and an Amtrak heritage unit. The LIRR coaches were in the lead to the former Channel Lumber / Prince range tracks.

Round end obs Belle Terre was at Whippany, with the heavyweight coaches. FL 9 units 486/485 (+ one more?) were on the Propane track. When I have some time, I'll see if any units are tucked into the sidings off Melanie Lane. As reported, the lead from the main to Vornado has been cleared, so it's possible those sidings may be used to hold diesels, although I'd love to see a shipper move in.

Several Amtrak MHC were tucked into sidings in various places, too.

GP15s 1501, 1507 are i/s on the Maine Eastern RR
ALGX C420 7221 never left the SRNJ due to some issues between the railroad and ALGX.

Also, the Channel Lumber switch is located near the end of the Malapardis Branch. The Prince Range switch was loctaed on the Whippany Main east of Whippany. The two do not touch and are a few miles apart, not to mention the Prince Range siding was completely removed over 6 years ago.
