Eastern Railroad Discussion > Sand Patch UpdateDate: 10/25/05 10:32 Sand Patch Update Author: TrackOne Kind of quiet this morning. Plenty of snow to shovel and downed trees to remove. Train Q359 west is departing Cumberland at 1:30pm. Amtrak PO30 is now 6hrs late.
The Patch received about 10 inches overnight. tom Date: 10/25/05 10:56 Re: Sand Patch Update Author: mjbobb You own an SUV Tom? 160 looked too bad for me as i reached the top of Wellersburg mt. and i turned back. Looks like typical CSX out there cleaning the switches and no heaters on. Sharp contrast in weather around here with all rain in Cumberland and just a few miles to nearly a foot of snow and so early in the season too!! P030 is on his way down the mountain as i write this.
Date: 10/25/05 10:57 Re: Sand Patch Update Author: ecm If you look straight up from the right side of the building and between the two wires, is that the marker for the summit of Sand Patch?

I left LaVale at 9am and headed over to Sand Patch via Route 160. At the top of Wellersburg Mtn a PennDot plow was headed north to Glencoe. Route 160 was plowed to the asphalt. The road into Sand Patch and Meyersdale was not plowed. Here is a photo of the county road leading away from Sand Patch. It was nasty. tom PS: SUV? Just my trusty Taurus Date: 10/25/05 11:34 Re: Sand Patch Update Author: ecm Thanks, pennsy3750, for the summit marker confirmation.

I want the snow to come now! *here here boy* --Dan Date: 10/25/05 17:57 Re: Sand Patch Update Author: lurchdel That Sand Patch switch-cleaning shot is a sure Fall Colors Photo Contest winner. I can feel the fall weather in my bones by just looking at the photo while sitting here in warm, sunny ABQ, NM.
