Eastern Railroad Discussion > Cinco de Mayo, Deshler styleDate: 04/19/06 08:15 Cinco de Mayo, Deshler style Author: GrampaFrosty I'm hoping the trains will be running good that day and the 2 days before and after. Looks like a good number of TO members will be in town, so I took a few days off of work. THERE WILL BE DERF ON SATURDAY! Now the big question is how much chicken do I need. TO members chime in if you'll be here!
Links to help you understand Derf: http://www.trainorders.com/images2/view.php?102537 http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/attachments/fullsize/102000/41211.jpg Been 6 years since a Cinco De Mayo in Deshler: http://members.aol.com/deshlerrailfan/report567.html Even Scooby was in town! BTW I did a quick train count from 0001 on Thursday to 2359 on Saturday for the last weekend. There were 216 trains in the 3 day period. Doing the math that is exactly 3 trains per hour all 3 days. Hope the traffic keeps up! Keep in mind a train in this count is anything that shunts the track and gets a signal better than stop. Any train talked by a Stop or on track equipment that doesn't get a signal is not counted. Just the way the program works... Bring your WiFi laptop too! All we need to do is add the aroma of the grill and chicken to the DVD!!!
Might see you there that week. Luckily they have a Subway in town...I live on Subway when I travel. Greg Scholl http://www.gregschollvideo.com Date: 04/20/06 09:55 Re: Cinco de Mayo, Deshler style Author: Gateway97 GF... WTF is a DERF?

I have much bigger grills now so I can serve more railfans and RRers too. Usually I bring 50 pounds to BBQ. We have actually in the past served goodies from the grill to as many as 20 train crews. They had multiple "Stop and Flag" crossings in town. The guy with the plate in this pic, http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/attachments/fullsize/102000/41211.jpg is a crew member from a dead train. The van driver got lost and we helped him find the train. They got stuck by blocked crossings and wheeled in for a quick bite while waiting for other trains to move. Once in a while you get a thank you over the radio too: http://members.aol.com/Deshlerrailfan/Thanks.wav Date: 04/20/06 12:45 Re: Cinco de Mayo, GO SOUTH Author: Ster2Block Go south alittle ways to Putnam County.
