W&LE Symbol help
Author: CR4100

Hello Guys,

I was in Bellevue this past weekend and caught this train on the W&LE. It appears to be a unit coal train with all UP power. It eventually headed west towards Toledo.

First shot is on the W&LE's connection to the NS to head Southward. The second shot is the train approaching Southwest St. The third shot is of the train after being turned on the NS's wye between the Ft. Wayne Line and the Columbus (?) line.

What is the symbol for this train?

Is the Eastbound train out of Willard each day "Z576" ?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Dave

Wheeling seems to use numbers to designate crews, rather than trains, like most RR's. These Powder River coal trains are often symbolled 581, but that's not a guarantee; sometimes the 641 or 321 symbol/crew is used. That's why NS uses its own symbols for the Toledo trains, to have a consistent symbol, and to track in the computer without conflicting with an NS symbol elsewhere.
