"A" line problem ?
Author: Daveb

Was railfaning yesterday (Monday, 8/7) at Pembroke, NC. Traffic was extremely light. Saw only Amtrak 90 and a coal drag on the "A" line between 10:00am and 4:00pm. Was something going on? Volume is usually much higher.

Am planning on going again tomorrow so I hope I'll see more.

I don't think it's completely out of character to see long gaps on that part of the "A" line during the day. I've experienced the same thing in Parkton on a couple of occasions.

Was there traffic on the Hamlet-Wilmington line during the period?

The A Line south of Rocky Mount can be hit and miss during the day. Based on my experiences, only seeing 2 trains is pretty unusual. Especially since neither of them were intermodal or manifest.

Traffic tends to pickup in the late evening with P091, P053, Q171, Q173 all leading the southbound parade out of Virginia.
