Eastern Railroad Discussion > RS1 Rises From the AshesDate: 11/15/06 17:57 RS1 Rises From the Ashes Author: RDG630 While in Quakertown, Pa today to photograph the EPRY 3153 in its new paint I was pleasantly surprised to see Alco RS1 #57 inservice. The unit has been idle for six years. The unit was built in 1948 for the Washington Terminal and then went to the BR&W and then NH&I before coming to the East Penn. While it is lettered for the East Penn it is privately owned. After these photos were taken in Quakertown it headed south to the CSX interchange in Telford.

I Traded the horn which it carries, a Nathan P-5 which I rebuilt for them for the Nathan M-5 it carried for a long time.

Green Mountain still uses the ex-Rutland 405 on their excursions, and last I knew, Arkansas & Missouri had one in excursion service, too.
