The Erie's livery lives on
Author: rfprr1

New York and Greenwood Lake Railway's Passaic, NJ facility is packed with Erie-like liveried engines. Two GP9s and an RS3 are seen. Out of sight is an Erie SW9 and a former Erie-Lackawanna (NJ DOT) U34CH. In the not too distant future, the former Conrail 4022, an E8, will be added to the stable.

As an ex Erie/EL employee, I really need to get there and see some
black and yellow.

It's not exactly the same, but and RS-3, GP-9's and an NW/SW in
black and yellow pseudo-Erie scheme is SO New York Division, 1964.

There's also a bay window caboose in Erie livery and a passenger car, barely visable at the right of the picture, in the two tone Erie green in the yard. At the Whippany(NJ) Railway Museum, you can find a restored Erie Dunsmore caboose.

Are they buying it or getting it on loan for a period of time?

The Erie paint scheme was very sharp.

From what I understand, the NY&GL is acquiring it from Bennet Levin to be painted back into it's original Erie two-tone green.

I really have no idea as to the heritage of the cars. There is a Yahoo group for the NY&GL at http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/NYGL/
although there isn't much activity on the list. Perhaps though, someone could answer your question there.

The two tone car just to right of the GP9 is actually in the two tone Erie green livery. Just the reflection makes it appear blue.

Thanks for the reply as for the pax car, no, It isn't FNM as I thought, It's the companies' scheme with a darker version.
