Eastern Railroad Discussion > NS Train 981Date: 09/23/07 16:30 NS Train 981 Author: jpf94 Anyone catching the NS train 981V out of Crewe VA this evening and catching photos I'b be appreciative of sighting reports and or photos. The train includes 26 SOU 114xxx series bulkhead flatcars carrying cement parts to minnesota. Exact routing is not yet known as the loads are dimensional.

I have noticed that this train seems to be carrying a variety of materials here lately. In the past it was strictly Caterpillar parts but this train has had on occasions generators, MOW equipment(CN & CP plus NS), steel slabs, one day he had nothing but cabooses! It almost sounds like a "Gopher Job"!

These 26 cars are in Charlotte NC now. They are routed to Atlanta and then up to Chattanooga and Cincinnatti, then west to chicago. FYI. Photos still appreciated.
