Colorful Day at Three Bridges
Author: AndrewBlaszczyk

NS local H76 behind NS 3421 backs cars for the Black River & Western interchange across Main Street in 'downtown' Three Bridges, NJ on a beautiful summer day. H76 was the only movement on the Lehigh Line between 10AM and ~3:30PM because of trackwork that was progressing westward throughout the day.

Very nice photo AB. That was one spot I always put off checking out for some reason, and never made it before I moved to NC. Are they still doing Wednesday/Sunday interchange?

Very nice shot. I do like the occasional local or branch line pic. Most of what we see is all high and tight ballast and high speed /low drag trains. Good to see a humble slow down shot once in a while. Thanks for sharing.

Yes they are. Once in a while they will make the Sunday move on Friday (during passenger train season) or Monday (if they couldn't get a full crew on Sunday). Wednesdays are still the best though, lighter traffic around Flemington and everywhere else really, and it seems that H76 meets the BR&W train more often at Three Bridges. So how many more shots do I have to post to make you want to visit? LOL ;-)

And thanks for the kind words!

Not only is Three Bridges a good photo location but the BR&W bridge spanning the Raritan River provides another good photo op. Seen here, BR&W 752 heading back to Flemington / Ringoes with five cars in tow on September 7th.

I didn't know New Jersey was that scenic. I guess I have to get off the highways and explore a little more.

Hahahaha! Neither did I until 2006 when my brother and I accidentally caught the BR&W freight (light engine) crossing the Raritan River while following the NS Lehigh. Needless to say, I've been hooked ever since. Friendly people, friendly crews, small town..whats not to love. NJ isn't ALL bad.
