Short day trips in Ohio and PA
Author: BNSFDS

My Dad and I had a couple of hours to kill last Wednesday so we took a short drive from Youngstown up to the Conneaut area. I've never been there so I was anxious to see what the area had to offer.

CSX's former Conrail Chicago Line was booming with traffic.

1. CSX train Q36621 highballing through town.

2. CSX train Q11421 passing former Nickel Plate Berkshire 755.

3. NS train 22K crossing the B&LE main and Conneaut Creek on NS's
Buffalo District.

The next day we had some family business near Pittsburgh to take care of. While the time to railfan was limited, we were able to catch a couple of trains at Beaver, PA near the former P&LE bridge of the Ohio River.

4. CSX train K35821 passing through Beaver.

5. CSX train G33120 coming off the Ohio River bridge on the Pittsburgh
Sub.

Enjoy

Did they finally move that annoying trailer between the CSX tracks in Beaver?

The NKP steamer is located on the south side of the CSX former NYC tracks in Conneaut,OH. Its behind a fence located next to a restored station right in town.

That station next to NKP 755 is also a very nicely done museum, and well worth a visit in its own right.
